Staystich along the grove of the seam of the previous seam, its easier to use a zipper foot to topstich neatly.

Attach the lining of the dress to the outer dress. Sew along the neckline of the dress.

Attaching a dress zip

Pin the zip along the zip opening on a garment before sewing with a machine. Sew one side at a time for a better control.

Overlocking

Neatening off the raw edges of  a seam.

Assembly

Sew the cut fabric pieces together.

Fusing

Fusing is the process of ironing on or using a press to fuse the fabric pieces to  interfacing. This preparatory work is usually performed on the facings of the garment parts as a means of strenghtening parts such as necklines.

Cutting

After the pattern pieces are laid and pinned on the fabric they are cut out with fabric scissors in gentle and long strokes.

Laying

The 2nd stage of the production si to lay paper patterns on the fabric according to the grain indicated on the pattern pieces.

Spreading

This is the process of laying fabric on a clean table before cutting. It is important to fold the fabric in half  so that the selvage edges are together. This is to make sure that the fabric is on the correct grain. The wrong side of the fabric should be on the outside.

Free Creative Fashion Show Rehearsals!

Tonight is the Free Creative fashion show rehearsal!!! The 1st and 2nd year fashion students from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University are going to showcasing their designs tomorrow night! The show will be held at the North Campus at the Goldfields Auditorium!

Young designers unite fashion show!

Local fashion designers such as, Nocebo Nohaji, Bianca Boshoff,  Mooi Mooii, Kelly Esterhuyse, Thabo Makheta, Bulelwa Belewa and others showcased their garments at the Radisson Blu hotel in Port Elizabeth.  The Lafemme editors were also present and interviewed the designers after the show at the Tabu lounge. The event was simply epic!
